Action Research

Just Teach

Early in our coursework for this course, we were tasked with watching two videos:

I created this image to compare the videos. First I defined each skill based on the video definition. Then, I color-coded skills that aligned.

What is action research?

Action research is “any systematic inquiry conducted by teachers, administrators, counselors, or others with a vested interest in the teaching and learning process or environment for the purpose of gathering information about how their particular schools operate, how they teach, and how their students learn” (Mertler, 2019, p. 5).

All of the content that humans access is changing rapidly and exponentially. It is imperative that we emphasize skills over content for all learners, so that learners may continue to evolve alongside their environment. With my action research, I seek to provide a digital professional environment that supports adult learners as they navigate these changes.

Action Research Outline

Before any research, it is imperative to explore the problem you intend to study. Read more about my topic, the purpose of my Action Research, and how I intend to address the question:

To what extent will the integration of digital collaborative spaces within and outside of training environments change the number and type of help tickets that administrative assistants input into the system?

Literature Review

What does the literature say? Any scientific study requires copious research before experimental design can take place. Read more about my extensive research on heutagogic principles, cooperative learning, cloud learning, professional learning networks, and how these concepts support a new culture of learning. Explore my literature review, titled:

Collaborative Learning Spaces: Using Professional Learning Networks and the Cloud in Blended Environments for Adult Learners

Action Research Plan

Finally, everything comes together in my action research plan. Examine how the background, question, and literature review drove the design of my Action Research Plan, as well as the implications of digital collaborative environments on the district as a whole. Using Digital Collaborative Learning Spaces in Blended Environments with Adult Learners
