Workflows That Work: Usability Testing and Reflection
This video details the usability of Workflows That Work, the blended course experience that I created for adult learners in the Central Administration offices of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. Please enjoy my reflections on this digital instructional design opportunity. In general, I reflect on feedback from my peers’ testing of my Canvas course and the changes I made to the course as a response. I also detail the impact of the platform use and alignment on the learner experience. Finally, I share how I plan to address infrastructure needs. Instructional Design: Begin with the end in mind
This course didn’t just appear by magic. I put in a lot of intentional thought and considered the instructional design I needed to meet my learners’ needs.
In particular, I considered the why of course design, how I would implement CSLE + COVA, Outcomes-Based Education, and a balance of Assessment As-For-Of Learning to meet learner needs, and what documents I would need to support course creation.

After I created the supporting materials and course outline, I could focus on how my blended course would best serve learner needs.
In particular, I focused on the start here module, plus how the outcomes, assessments, and activities would align to provide a collaborative, outcomes-based course that gradually hands control to the adult learner.
